Connor Bedard records hat trick in his first game as a BlackHawk (Video)
Connor Bedard has arrived in Chicago. The first overall pick has some lofty expectations. The highly touted prospect who absolutely dominated junior hockey played in a prospect showcase and it went exactly how we expected it to go.
The 18-year-old's skill set is other worldly. In the game, he showcased his world class shot, quickness and excellent hands. He would score a hat trick in his first action as a Blackhawk.
His first goal was one that we've all seen him do. Bedard received a pass from the point and walked inside the circle. He the took a filthy toe-drag wrist shot that beat the goalie clean.
His second goal was a showcase of all the things Bedard does exceptionally. He receives a pass in the slot elects not shoot, deking to the outside. He then uses his excellent foot work and fakes a pass to open a lane where he walks in and shoots from a sharp angle beating the goalie over the opposite shoulder.
Finally, his third goal is 2-on-3 which quickly becomes a one-on-one with Bedard receiving a pass and cutting across the middle of the ice. He shoots low blocker beating the goalie again.
The Chicago Blackhawks have got a very special player in their organization. Connor Bedard continues to smash through expectations. We will see if he continues to impress as the countdown to the NHL season begins.
