LATEST | Flyers CEO delivers his thoughts on Tortorella's in-game tantrum and ejection
John Tortorella is making rounds and headlines on the internet for the tantrum he showed on the Flyers' bench while they were taking a beating in Tampa Bay last night.
The Flyers were given an impressive 43 penalty minutes through the first half of the first period. The former Canucks head coach wasn't going to let that slide and went off on the referees, standing his ground for his players. Tortorella was eventually thrown out of the game and he refused to leaved his team's bench:
It is expected that Tortorella will be fined for the words he delivered last night. The Flyers' CEO came out of hiding to address this whole situation and gave a response that will most certainly surprise most:
"I'm really proud of Torts for standing up for his/our team.," he said "This new era of Orange is about having each other's backs. Last night, Torts had our collective backs.. I respect any action the league might feel a neeed to take but if it includes a fine, I am paying it."
To Tortorella's defence, the NHL officiating has been outrageously bad this year. He may not have used the best method to convey his message, but sometimes fire is best fought with fire.
