The Canucks opted for the Russian power forward in 2019 with the 10th overall and while he hasn't bloomed has fast as some other like Matt Boldy (Minnessota - 12th) or Cole Caufield (Montréal - 15th) he still shows lots of promises.

Podkolzin recently welcomed a newborn into his world and it's given him new purposes as he highlighted in a recent interview. The team's head coach Rick Tocchet told the media's he met with Podz during the team's development camp and the young man appeared to be as ripped has ever. He gave a promising statement and we may witness the change we needed to see from him:

' I'm a dad, I have a family, and I just want to play hockey and do my job well for me, for my family. For my daughter as well, it's more motivation for me."

The team's number 92 spent some time down in the AHL where he collected 18 points in 28 games. After he gained some confidence and had the opportunity to grow his all-around the game, he got called up and showed promising things heading forward.

26 points in 79 games in his rookie year, 7 in 39 in his sophomore season and now how many can he collect in a contract year?
