Scary Scene - Vancouver Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes Rushes Off The Ice After Nasty High Stick
Just minutes into the first period, Vancouver Canucks' best player and captain Quinn Hughes had to rush off the ice after taking a nasty high stick from Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brandon Hagel.
There was a lot of blood on the ice as the stick caught him up high, where even the Canucks staff had to come on to clean up the mess.
Quinn Highes had gone down the tunnel quickly with the medical staff to assumingly get repairs done to the slash.
Even though the look of the play seemed not too dangerous, the outcome was, as Hagel was assessed a clear 4-minute penalty for drawing blood from Hughes.
The reigning Norris Trophy winner showed his grit and tenacity as he returned just minutes after going down with the injury.
Hockey players are a different breed as they will make any effort to get back on the ice, no matter what the extent of the injury.
Hughes is now supporting a full face "fish bowl" face mask to protect him, which clearly did not affect his play one bit as he opened the scoring for the Vancouver Canucks with a big goal.
