Canucks GM Patrik Allvin Shocks Fans With Desired Return for Trading Elias Pettersson or J.T. Miller
It has been confirmed on countless occasions that the Vancouver Canucks would rather not trade Miller or Pettersson, but that does not mean they are not open to the idea.
While neither player has requested a trade, the constant speculation and drama about a rift between the two stars is causing Allvin to potentially push for a trade.
What the Vancouver Canucks want in return for J.T. Miller or Elias Pettersson
On Hockey Night in Canada, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman disclosed that Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks are increasingly more open to a trade for either Miller or Pettersson and are even actively taking calls.
«definitely definitely looking at the market for both players (Miller/Pettersson) & you should be prepared for all outcomes»
He also released what the Canucks will want to get in return if a trade happens.
It has been believed for months that the Canucks have been prioritizing trying to acquire a top-4 defenseman, but it seems that has all changed.
Friedman believes that the Canucks are now prioritizing a centre over a d-man.
«I think if the Canucks do make a trade, they're gonna need a centre in return,» Friedman reported.
«I know Canucks fans are concerned about the defence with [Quinn] Hughes and [Filip] Hronek injured, but I believe the team has prioritized centre in return more than the blueline because they'd be trading a centre if one or both was to go.»
It obviously makes more sense that the return for Miller or EP40 would be another centre in order to fill the hole they leave behind.
But, the fact remains that it is mind boggling that two professional athletes cannot even work together for a common goal, instead, pettiness and drama is taking precedent over winning, which looks bad for both Miller and Pettersson.
