Ex-Vancouver Canucks forward Linden Vey Leaves the KHL For Personal Reasons
Former Vancouver Canucks forward Linden Vey has left his KHL club to return to North America for personal reasons.
Since 2017, Linden Vey has been enjoying his time in Europe, primarily in the KHL with clubs such as Barys Astana, CSKA Moscow, SKA St. Petersburg and Avangard Omsk, the latter being his most recent club.
Vey signed with Avangard Omsk for the 2024-25 season back in April and the team was very excited to add him to their group as they pushed for a deep run in the Gagarin Cup Playoffs this season.
"We wanted to see Linden with our team before the 2023/24 trade deadline, but Adler Mannheim refused the contract termination and the transfer. Since the forward has fulfilled all the obligations to his former club, nothing prevents him from concluding a contract with Avangard. When summing up the results of the season, we mentioned the areas we want to improve. Vey will add versatility and skills to our center group. He is a highly skilled right-handed center, who has proven his worth through his career, and specifically in playoff games." Avangard Omsk General Manager Anton Kuryanov said.
However, after just 20 games with the club based in the southern part of Russia, Linden Vey has made the difficult decision to return home to North America.
Avangard Omsk announce Linden Vey's departure due to family issues
After 20 games with Avangard Omsk, Linden Vey has made the decision to return to North America to attend to some family issues, the team announced in a press release on Friday.
"Avangard Hockey Club and forward Linden Vey have terminated the player's contract. Our Club reserves its sport rights of the forward. Linen has to go back to Canada to manage family issues.
The Club thanks the player for his work and wishes health to his loved ones." Avangard Omsk said.
Vey, a native of Wakaw, Saskatchewan, registered 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists), 12 penalty minutes and was a minus-two in 20 games with Avangard Omsk.
Everyone at Canucks Daily is thinking of Linden Vey at this time and hope everything is okay with himself and his family.
