It was a big night for Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk as the team returned to Rogers Arena for the first time since November 19th against the New York Rangers.
Jake DeBrusk has been solid for the Vancouver Canucks lately and entered Friday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on a three-game goal streak.
There's been only one thing that's eluded Jake DeBrusk in his first season as a member of the Vancouver Canucks and that's a goal at Rogers Arena.
Coming into the night, DeBrusk had 11 goals on the season, all of which have come on the road, but the Edmonton native decided that this was the game where his home woes were going to end.
With under ten minutes remaining in the third period, the Canucks were on the powerplay and Jake DeBrusk potted home a loose puck in front of
Elvis Merzlikins to give Vancouver a 4-2 lead.
Jake DeBrusk happy to get one on the board at Rogers Arena
After Vancouver's 5-2 win over Columbus, Jake DeBrusk
spoke to the media and opened up about scoring his first goal at Rogers Arena.
"I never got one in this building until tonight, and it feels pretty good," DeBrusk said. "It's a kind of a greasy goal. I'm not going to lie; it wasn't a pretty one. But I didn't care how it went in. Just seeing it go across that line was nice."
Not only was it Jake DeBrusk's first goal at Rogers Arena as a member of the Vancouver Canucks, he never scored in the rink at all during his seven-year stint with the Boston Bruins.
With Friday's tally, Jake DeBrusk now leads the entire National Hockey League in goals (12) since November 12th,
according to Sportsnet Stats.
DeBrusk will look to continue his impressive run and extend his goal scoring streak to five games on Sunday when the Vancouver Canucks welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning to Rogers Arena.
Puck drop for Sunday's game is set for 1 pm PT and can be viewed nationally across Canada on Sportsnet.
