LATEST | Canucks linked to four defenceman ahead of trade deadline
The Vancouver Canucks have made some pretty notable additions to their roster both last summer and in-season, the biggest being Elias Lindholm who they got from the Calgary Flames before the All-Star Weekend in Toronto.
The team's forward depth is strong and it's unlikely that they'll add anyone else via trade, unless it involves them moving out a significant cap hit. On the free agent front however, Phil Kessel continues to work out in Abbotsford and could play his way to an NHL contract with the Canucks in the coming weeks.
On area of need the Canucks and Patrik Allvin could address before Friday, March 8th is on the blue line and adding a depth defenceman to their group, with several affordable options available.
One name they've been linked to over the last little while is Chris Tanev, who spent the first ten years of his National Hockey League career in Vancouver, but Patrick Johnston of The Province has suggest four other possibilities.
"Johnston believes they could also look at adding a right-shot defenseman. While they'd love to bring back Chris Tanev from Calgary, they'll likely have to consider more affordable options that can fit within their system. Possibilities include Seattle's Justin Schultz, Pittsburgh's Chad Ruhwedel, Anaheim's Ilya Lyubushkin or Buffalo's Erik Johnson." All four of the players Johnston suggests would be solid fits for the Canucks as depth options, with Erik Johnson being the most experience of the group, winning a Stanley Cup in 2022 as a member of the Colorado Avalanche.
Of the four players mentioned by Patrick Johnston, who should the Vancouver Canucks pursue? Let us know your opinion in the poll below!
