The Vancouver Canucks may never have the ability to reunite Quinn Hughes and Luke Hughes with one another after it is speculated they were named on his ten-team no trade list.
"The New Jersey Devils announced today that the team has agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenseman Luke Hughes on a seven-year contract worth $63,000,000 ($9,000,000 AAV). The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald. He will join the club for practice on Thursday." the Devils said on their team website.
With that in mind, many fans were wondering if Luke Hughes is still in play as it was never really an option to get him other than completing a trade anyway.
Vancouver Canucks could be named on Luke Hughes' no trade list
Although nothing is confirmed, with all the chatter about Quinn Hughes wanting to reunite with his brothers one day has caused quite the stir, and many are specualting that after Luke Hughes signed his new contract extension, that Vancouver may be on his new 10-team no move clause.
Luke Hughes received a 10-team no-trade list in his #NJDevils extension for the eligible seasons -- the same clause as his brother, Jack, has in his deal
With Quinn being the most accomplished out of the three NHL siblings by winning a Norris trophy and being named the Captain of the Canucks, it is very surprising that he now is the lowest paid out of the three.
"Hughes brothers, by cap hit
Luke: $9 million Jack: $8 million Quinn: $7.85 million" Luke Fox of Sportsnet said.
