Every year during training camp, rosters are full of young players looking to make an impact on their team's coaching and management staffs. It can be a nerve-wracking time for a prospect and it always helps to be surrounded by a solid group of veterans like the Canucks have.
Max Sasson, who is entering his second season of professional hockey, spoke highly of J.T. Miller recently, saying how helpful he has been to all of the younger guys in the room and ensuring everyone feels that they're included.
For someone like Sasson, who turned 24 earlier this month, having someone to look up to like J.T. Miller means a lot. Miller has been a leader for the Canucks in recent years and by helping out the younger guys, he's proving to everyone why he should be wearing an 'A' on his chest every night.
Sasson had a great rookie season with Abbotsford in the American Hockey League in 2023-24. The Birmingham, Michigan native appeared in 56 games during the regular season where he registered 42 points (18 goals, 24 assists), 36 penalty minutes and was a plus-14. He followed that up with three points in six playoff games.
The Canucks' management staff have to be pretty happy with what they saw from Max Sasson last season and if he's able replicate or even surpass his offensive output from his rookie campaign, he could put himself in a good position to earn a call up to Vancouver, if an injury occurs at some point this year.
