National Hockey League to Unveil Quarter-Century Teams for Each Franchise Starting Late-December
The National Hockey League has announced a major initiative that will begin later this month and feature all 32 franchises.
Starting on Monday, December 30th and running for 32 days, the National Hockey League will be unveiling the quarter-century teams for each franchise, beginning with the St. Louis Blues, followed by the Chicago Blackhawks the next day - both teams who will be participating in the Winter Classic.
Each franchise will have a first quarter-century team and a second quarter-century team consisting of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender.
"Starting at the Discover NHL Winter Classic later this month and continuing daily through January, the NHL will reveal each Club's First and Second Quarter-Century Teams. Both the First Team and Second Team will consist of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender. Each Club's First and Second Quarter-Century Teams will be selected by a panel of media, retired players and executives specific to that Club. Players under consideration for selection are those who have appeared in a game for the respective franchises since Jan. 1, 2000." the National Hockey League said.
As for the Vancouver Canucks, their quarter-century teams will be announced prior to puck drop on Tuesday, January 21st against the Buffalo Sabres.
Who should be on Vancouver's quarter-century teams?
The Vancouver Canucks have plenty of solid options for their quarter-century teams including the Sedin twins, Roberto Luongo, Quinn Hughes, Alexander Edler, among others.
