It appears the veteran coach will stay in Canada, as it's been reported that both the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs have shown interest in adding him to their staff.
The Senators have reportedly interviewed him for a spot on their staff. Yeo's departure was announced on Tuesday after the Canucks offered him a one-year contract, and the Vancouver Province reported that Yeo left for «an opportunity closer to home.»
Both Toronto and Ottawa are certainly closer to Scarborough than Vancouver.
Each team's coaching staff is in flux, with new head coaches coming into both cities, Craig Berube and Travis Green.
If they're seeking experience, Yeo brings it with nearly a decade as a head coach in the NHL and more as an assistant.
The 50-year-old was hired by Bruce Boudreau ahead of the 2022-23 season and has been with the Canucks since then.
So far, there's been no word about who will be replacing Yeo behind the bench for Vancouver.
