As the Vancouver Canucks took on the Seattle Kraken last night in a highly anticipated rematch, head coach Rick Tocchet send a major message to his top forward J.T. Mille, by cutting his ice time.
There is a long documented conflict between
J.T. Miller and
Elias Pettersson, but with EP40 out of the lineup with an injury, you would expect that he would be asking a step forward, but it has been quite the opposite, especially with rick Tocchet cutting his ice time.
Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet Cuts J.T. Miller's Ice Time Against Seattle Kraken
When wins are more desperate than ever for the Vancouver Canucks, Rick Tocchet decided to make a big statement last night when he Canucks won in a shootout against the Seattle Kraken.
It was noticed after the game that J.T. Miller has his lowest ice time of the season, other than the game he was benched against the Nashville Predators.
It seemed that Rick Tocchet did no trust Miller in the important moments of the game as he finished dead last on the team in r on 5 ice time, playing just 10:03 at full strength, which is nearly three minutes below the 12:58 he's averaged per game since returning from his leave of absence.
It has not been confirmed the exact reason why Tocchet decided to send this sort of message to Miller, it could be related to the conflict with Pettersson, or to the fact that he has gone 3 out of his last 5 game without a shot attempt on the opponents goal.
Regardless of what the reason is, this information will only add more fuel to the fire in an already drama filled season for the Vancouver Canucks.
