Vancouver Canucks Fans React to Kiefer Sherwood's Embarrassing Breakaway Vs. the Nashville Predators
Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood pulled his best Patrik Stefan impersonation last night vs his former team with Nashville Predators.
Ahead of last nights game, Kiefer Sherwood's spoke to the media to discuss the importance of this game, and how there is a little extra meaning playing his former team, who decided not to re-sign him to an extension over the offseason.
"Once that puck drops, it's business. Obviously, I'm very grateful for them. I wouldn't be here without them. But, you know, I think it's a business on all fronts. I'm happy to be here, but it's going to be fun to show what they missed, I guess, or whatever. But definitely added more fuel to the fire this summer, and now it's time to go all out."
With Sherwood's second opportunity playing on the top forward line, he would get his chance to prove to the Pred they made a mistake, instead, he had an embarrassing moment on a breakaway.
In a 2-2 game where the Vancouver Canucks were not playing their best hockey and were looking for a spark, Kiefer Sherwood managed to find himself on a breakaway to break the tie.
Well, Sherwood did break the tie, just not in the manner he wanted.
As he came in on Juuse Saros, Sherwood did his best Patrik Stefan impression as he completely whiffed on his shot, but the embarrassment did not stop there.
The Predators took the puck the other way and ended up scoring just seconds later. It is embarrassing enough to completely screw up on a breakaway, but to have the other team score as a result is a whole other level of shame.
Vancouver Canucks fans react to Kiefer Sherwood's breakaway fail
Obviously, Sherwood's fail is not nearly as bad as Patrik Stefan's, who whiffed on an empty netter, but fans have taken it to social media to compare the two and to ridicule Sherwood.
Even though the Canucks lost, Sherwood did get a chance to redeem himself as he scored a beautiful one timer to cut the 4-2 lead to 1 late in the 3rd period.
It was clearly a hilarious moment that Sherwood would like to have back, but at the end of the day, he is a full on fan favorite at this point and his fail will not follow him for very long.
