The hockey community is grappling with the devastating loss of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau, and now their sister Katie has broken her silence.

Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau were back in their hometown for their sister Katie's wedding, which was set for Friday. Tragically, their lives were cut short on Thursday night when they were struck and killed by an intoxicated driver, Sean Higgins. In the wake of this heartbreaking event, Katie Gaudreau has shared her thoughts on Instagram, expressing the immense pain of losing her two brothers.

To know these two was to love these two. I have no words to express the bond my family shared. The entire world knows there would never have been a John without Matty or Matty without John. They were the best big brothers a little girl could have asked for. This will never be a goodbye post because I will never stop saying your names and honouring you. I'll take the best care of Mom, Dad, Kristen, Mer, Madeline, and your babies.

Johnny Gaudreau, one of the most talented undersized players in NHL history, left an indelible mark on the game with his 115-point season and Lady Byng Trophy win. Fans and teammates will remember his legacy with the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Matthew Gaudreau, who was deeply involved in his community as a high school hockey coach and a former member of the New York Islanders organization, leaves behind his pregnant wife, who is expecting their first child, Tripp. In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to support Matthew's wife and unborn son, which has already raised over $500,000 in donations.

Our thoughts are with the Gaudreau family during this tough time. Katie Gaudreau's words of strength amid the most challenging week of her life are truly commendable.

The hockey community will forever remember Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau for their impact on and off the ice. Their legacy will continue to inspire and resonate throughout the sport.
