TRADE ALERT | Alex Debrincat's trade unfolds, his next destination is now known
The rumor had been going around for quite some time that Alex Debrincat would not be re-signing in Ottawa and that he had asked out.
Elliotte Friedman broke the news moments ago that Debrincat's next destination would be Detroit. The details are being finalized, but Steve Yzerman landed the scoring winger and will have him under contract for the next 8 years:
''DeBrincat will be traded to Detroit. Again, im not sure of the package.will not be a long, long-term extension Im told. 4-5 years, I think.''
The latest reports suggests that DeBrincat will be inking a 4-year deal with a $7.875M AAV:
''DeBrincat has agreed to an extension with Detroit. Hearing 4-years, $7.875M AAV range.''
DeBrincat was acquired by the Sens days before the 2022 Draft. He managed to put 66 points in 82 outings this year. His best season came back in his days with the Hawks when he collected 41 goals and 37 assists for 78 points in 82 games during the 2021-2022 season.
