Alex Galchenyuk, who's currently in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, is reportedly drawing interest from a Russian team in the KHL.

According to reports, Salavat Yulaev Ufa have been in contact with Galchenyuk's agent, but nothing has materialized as of yet because of the 29-year-old's status in North America.

"We informed the agent of our interest. But for now, no more. While he is doing his own thing, we do not know how events will develop. We sort of hung up the call, it will be - we will consider it. There is a budget for this. It is unclear what condition he is in.

It is difficult to judge a person, or a situation, without knowing it completely. Everything can be there. The interpretation of the same police officers may also be different. While it is difficult to judge. Let's see how the person will be ready." Salavat Yulaev Ufa General Director Rinat Bashirov

Galchenyuk, a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, had his contract terminated earlier this month by the Arizona Coyotes after he was arrested by Scottsdale Police and charged with number of offenses including private property hit-and-run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest and threatening or intimidating. Galchenyuk has since apologized to everyone, including the officers who were involved in the arrest.

Last season, Galchenyuk spent majority of his time in the American Hockey League with the Colorado Eagles where he was a point-per-game player. In 42 games, he put up 42 points (16 goals, 26 assists), 22 penalty minutes and was a plus-four. He also appeared in 11 games for the Avalanche, but failed to record any points.
