REMINISCING | Two years mark of a very sad anniversary in Canucks history
July 23rd of 2021, Jim Benning is the Canucks' front office boss and per his beliefs, the Canucks are one trade away from having a shot at being cup contenders.
The Arizona Coyotes have a unique trade opportunity since their aging captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who's just entering the first years of a very hefty deal, agrees to waive his no-movement clause to land in Vancouver. Jim Benning jumped all over the opportunity and threw ending contracts at the Coyotes to make it work money wise.
To Arizona
Jay Beagle
Loui Eriksson
Antoine Roussel
2021 1st Round VAN (9th - Dylan Guenther)
2022 3rd Round (Hunter Haight)
2023 7th Round
To Vancouver
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
Conor Garland
We know how that story ends, the Canucks are now trying to move Conor Garland and have just completed the most expensive buy out in their history. On the Coyotes end, Dylan Guenther is thriving in his development and will most likely play his first full NHL season next year.
