Not that it comes as a surprise to anyone, TSN's Darren Dreger confirmed on Thursday that Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Lindholm won't be returning to the team and will be hitting the market as an unrestricted free agent on Monday.
Lindholm's time with the Canucks was pretty subpar, especially considering the package Patrik Allvin paid to acquire the former fifth-overall pick from the Calgary Flames earlier this year.
The Boden, Sweden native should have plenty of interested teams calling him once the free agent market opens at 12 pm ET on Monday, but according to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, there is one organization that could potentially be the front-runner.
In an article on The Fourth Period last night, Pagnotta reported that chatter is getting louder and louder regarding the Boston Bruins and their interest in Elias Lindholm.
Lindholm, 29, appeared in 26 games during the regular season for the Canucks, recording 12 points (six goals, six assists), four penalty minutes and was a minus-six. He then took his game to another level in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, putting up ten points (five goals, five assists) in 13 games.
We'll have to wait and see what the free agent market brings on Monday, but it appears that the Boston Bruins will have a good chance at signing Elias Lindholm, someone they've been pursuing prior to him being traded to Vancouver earlier this past season.
