LATEST | An old statement from Jordan Binnington comes back to bite him after blowout to the Canucks
The fans in Vancouver aren't the forgetting types, and Jordan Binnington learned it the hard way.
OLD STATEMENT COMING BACK TO BITE HIM?
Binnington had a stellar career debut during which he carried the St. Louis Blues to the Stanley Cup. Despite that, a rookie centerman named Elias Pettersson had entered the league and caught all the attention. The Calder Trophy, given to the best first-year player, was ultimately a two-man race between Pettersson and Binnington, one the Swede took home.
The next time the two clubs met, Binnington openly stated that he should have gotten the Calder before Pettersson, and it's been bitting him ever since. Not only has Pettey developed into one of the best centerman in the game, Bennington had a hard time in Vancouver, and the game on Friday night was yet another example of it.
