LATEST | Former Big Bad Bruins Captain passes away
BRUINS ISSUE RELEASE CONFIRMING TERRIBLE NEWS
The Boston Bruins organization issued a heartbreaking statement earlier today. The team announced that one of their former Captain had passed:
''It is with sadness that we share Ed Sandford, who had been our oldest living Bruins Alumni member, has passed away at the age of 95.''
''Ed Sandford embodied everything it means to be a Bruin. At 95, he was our oldest living captain, having worn the 'C' in his final season in 1954-55.
It is with sadness that we acknowledge his passing and offer our condolences to his loved ones.''
Ed Sandford enjoyed 9 years in the NHL, participating in 502 games and contributing 251 points. Much of his time in the league was dedicated to the Bruins, where he donned the captain's C during the 1954-55 season. He was also a part of the Red Wings and the Blackhawks.
Despite the existing rivalry between the Bruins and Canucks' organizations, we wish to send our deepest condolences to the team, family and friends of Sandford's.
