LATEST | Important development regarding Andrei Kuzmenko and the Canucks
Andrei Kuzmenko has made headlines his fair share of time since the season started, mainly due to his deteriorating relationship with the team's head coach, Rick Tocchet.
After he broke everything last year, Kuzmenko is barely recognizable since the season started and can't find the back of the net.
To top it all, teams have taken notice of the situation, and Allvin has been taking phone calls regarding the Russian winger. The Hockey insider Elliotte Friedman broke the news on Hockey Night in Canada that teams had begun inquiring about hit:
'Elliotte also noted that teams are calling #Canucks about Andrei Kuzmenko.''
Kuzmenko went from a solid first liner to a role player, splitting his time between the fourth line and the power-play. He scored 38 goals and 74 points last season and he's now on pace for 13 goals and 48 points.
Signed to a two-year and $11M contract last season, now is not the time to give up on the scoring winger. The Canucks obviously need him to get back to his former self, especially since his contract has the potential to be one of the league's best deals cost-efficiency-wise.
Should the Canucks choose to trade him, they could definitely get a quality return. However, if they intend on making a steep playoff run, Kuzmenko is much more valuable to the team, especially if they get him back to form.
