Since the dawn of the new millennium, the Vancouver Canucks organization has been blessed with numerous elite players from the Sedin twins, Roberto Luongo, Quinn Hughes and many others.
In the last 25 years, the Vancouver Canucks have reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs on 13 occasions including a trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011 where they fell to the Boston Bruins in seven games.
Ahead of Tuesday, January 21st's game against the Buffalo Sabres, the National Hockey League is going to announce the Quarter-Century Teams for the Vancouver Canucks and us here at Canucks Daily have decided to take a stab at predicting what those may look like.
Choosing just 12 players - six forwards, four defenceman and two goaltenders - is never easy and for the Vancouver Canucks it was no different as there are a handful of very talented athletes left off our team predictions.
For our first Quarter-Century Team, we've gone with a forward group consisting of Daniel and Henrik Sedin, along with former captain Markus Naslund.
On the blue line, we've chosen current captain Quinn Hughes, along with Alexander Edler, who was honored by the Canucks earlier this season.
In between the pipes, Roberto Luongo gets the nod - Vancouver's all-time wins and shutout leader, who played a big role helping the club to the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.
First Quarter-Century Team
Daniel Sedin -- Henrik Sedin -- Markus Naslund
Alexander Edler -- Quinn Hughes
Roberto Luongo
When it comes to the second Quarter-Century Team, that's where things got really tricky and we unfortunately left off some players that absolutely deserve to be on here, but there wasn't any room.
On forward, we've gone with Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, who could be on the trade block as Patrik Allvin explores the market for them, along with former captain and current New York Islander Bo Horvat.
Mattias Ohlund and Sami Salo occupy the defensive pairing for our second Quarter-Century Team, with Thatcher Demko in goal.
Second Quarter-Century Team
Elias Pettersson -- Bo Horvat -- J.T. Miller
Mattias Ohlund -- Sami Salo
Thatcher Demko
Among the names left off our predictions, but wouldn't surprise us to see once it's officially unveiled, include Ryan Kesler, Brock Boeser and Kevin Bieksa.
