Vancouver Canucks Prospect On Pace for Historic Season in Sweden
Vancouver Canucks prospect Melvin Fernström is on pace to set a franchise record in Sweden playing in the J20 Nationell league.
The Vancouver Canucks prospect and 2024 third-round pick is not yet shown his skills here in North America, but is certainly making his mark over in Sweden playing for the Örebro HK.
The 18-year-old forward is currently splitting time between the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and the J20 Nationell League team.
Although getting to play some games in the SHL, At his age, it is deemed more beneficial for him to play the majority of his appearances in the J20 Nationell, which is the highest level of junior hockey in Sweden, Previously known as the J20 SuperElit.
in 12 games for the junior team, Fernström is one pace to smash a franchise record, scoring 11 goals and 7 assists, godd for 18 points.
Fernström now has 42 goals and 40 assists for 82 points in 66 career games with Örebro HK J20. With these numbers, the yougster has one of the highest points per game totals in franchise history, and he can easily break the franchise's all-time goals record.
Even though drafted only in the 3rd-round, his potential plays well above it and Vancouver Canucks fans should be excited about the talented young winger.
As an 18-year-old, he has not had the best time playing in the SHL, but impressive nonetheless for his age.
In 28 games for the senior Orebro HK, he has 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points.
