Next season's roster could look a little bit different, particularly their depth as there are several players on the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks who are close to being ready for full-time roles in the National Hockey League.
According to Thomas Drance and Rick Dhaliwal, the Vancouver Canucks are hoping that some of those players in Abbotsford, including Vasili Podkolzin and Arshdeep Bains, among others, will be ready to fill roles on their roster for the 2024-25 campaign.
Both Vasili Podkolzin and Arshdeep Bains have some NHL experience already, but taking on a full-time role is a big ask and it'll be interesting to see in training camp in September if either are ready for that promotion.
This season, Podkolzin spent the majority of his time in the AHL, but appeared in 19 games for the Canucks in the regular season, where he had two assists. He also appeared in two Stanley Cup Playoff games, but failed to record any points and had ten penalty minutes. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Bains, who is the less experienced of the two, skated in eight games in the NHL for Vancouver this season, recording no points along with six penalty minutes and was a minus-five.
