Canucks legend Trevor Linden delivers advice to Elias Pettersson
Only a mere shadow in the first round of the 102-point he was in 2022-2023, the time has come for Elias Pettersson to carry his team through to the next round and elevate his game to the next level.
Canucks legend, former captain, and former team president Trevor Linden was asked what would be the Canucks' key to success in the second round against the Oilers. According to him, they will need everyone to play at their best and Elias Pettersson to be the best version of himself.
Linden shared his piece and what he thought Pettersson needed to do to be a high-end playoff producer. Based on his viewings and his experience, Pettersson needs to engage more in the play and get involved in the fight:
«For them to have any chance, he's gotta be their best player or one of them. You're going to go through times where you're not feeling or seeing it, but Elias isn't in the fight. Let's be honest here; playoff hockey is a war. You see how some of these [players] approach it as an all-out battle. It's not just about making plays but competing,» Linden responded. «When I watch Elias, he's gotta get in the fight. They will not win this series if they don't have him as one of their best players.»
Tocchet will need all hands on deck especially with the Canucks' star netminder Thatcher Demko sitting on the sidelines with an injury. Pettersson only produced 3 points through the team's first 6 playoff games, we expect the Oilers to be a much tougher opponent and his ability to drive the play will definitely be needed.
