The state of Florida is still picking up the pieces after a pair of Hurricanes - Helene & Milton - tore through over the last few weeks. It's been a tough time for Florida as unfortunately, the death toll has risen to 24 according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
There's a bit of a Canadian connection to the recovery efforts to both Hurricane Helene and Milton as linemen from across the country have gone down to Florida to help restore power.
Among those that have helped out are linemen from British Columbia, who have worked tirelessly to get the power back on over the last three weeks while having 16-hour shifts to ensure they did all the could to aid the residents.
According to Dan Murphy of Sportsnet, 44 linemen from British Columbia will be attendance for tonight's Canucks game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, which will give them an opportunity to enjoy a night out after working so hard recently and watch their favourite team.
It's great to see the hard work of these linemen who have travelled all the way down to Florida from British Columbia, and other provinces across Canada, to help out their neighbours to the south. Hopefully the Vancouver Canucks will be able to pull out a win for these linemen, which would be their first of the season, with puck drop set for just after 4 pm PT/7 pm ET.
