He's Back! - Vancouver Canucks Confirm What All Fans Have Been Waiting to Hear Regarding Thatcher Demko
By what has been seen at practice today, the Vancouver Canucks have confirmed that Thatcher Demko will indeed be making his season debut this evening against the St. Lous Blues.
It has been a very long road back for All-Star goalie Thatcher Demko after he went down with a knee injury during the first round of the Stanley Cup Play Offs against the Nashville Predators.
Demko hasn't played an NHL game since the Canucks faced the Nashville Predators in the opening round of the 2023-24 playoffs. He suffered his second left knee injury in less than two months in Game 1, putting a premature end to his postseason run.
To that point, it was also never confirmed if this day would ever come, that he he would be able to fully gain the strength and mobility back in his knee. But, by the looks of it, he is now ready to make his much anticipated return.
Vancouver Canucks to Start Thatcher Demko Against the St. Louis Blues
After an incredible season so far, the pressure to have Demko return has been taken off by the performances of Kevin Lankinen. But after the past two games of being his backup, fans have been wondering when he would be making his first start.
Well, the wait is now over as Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet confirmed to the media that Thatcher Demko will be getting his first start of the season.
It can be expected that fans will be offering a major warm welcome to Demko when he steps onto the ice for the first time since April 21st, 2024.
Even though Lankinen has been sensational this season, it is no doubt that having Demko back will bring them to a whole new level.
There may be a few games for Demko to shake of the rust, but there is no doubt that as he has solidified himself as one of the games best netminders.
