The Canucks' top trade deadline acquisition Elias Lindholm is headed straight to free agency since Allvin couldn't manage to get him under contract before the season ended. Technically, his rights are the Canucks' until July 1st, and Allvin has until then to make it work.
Lindholm has decided to play hard to get and chose to retire to his summer home in Sweden while documenting his departure through his wife's Instagram: Elias Lindholm has officially left Vancouver.
The latest reports now suggest that the Canucks won't be the only ones trying to get Lindholm to commit to a long-term contract. According to intel gathered by the Bleacher Report, the Boston Bruins, the Utah HC, and the Chicago Blackhawks have openly manifested their interest in getting the right-handed centerman contract.
Lindholm needed some time to adjust to his new environment during the regular season, but he took his game to the next level when the post-season came. He played the game the right way, the Tocchet way. He scored important goals, blocked important plays in his zone and won his teammates' hearts after Thatcher Demko and J.T. Miller pleaded their case for him to return.
The speculation suggests he rejected a $72M for the eight years back when he was in Calgary, will one of these teams sign him to that much money?
