Three members of the Vancouver Canucks' defensive group this past season are set to become unrestricted free agents on July 1st - Nikita Zadorov, Ian Cole and Tyler Myers. While it's unclear what their futures hold in Vancouver, the Canucks have to look ahead to the open market and see who is available as potential replacements.

There's no doubt there will be quite a few solid options for Patrik Allvin and his management group on the open market on Canada Day, but there is one name who would be open to playing for his hometown team.

While on Donnie & Dhali on Monday, pending unrestricted free agent Brenden Dillon, who has spent the last three seasons with the Winnipeg Jets, said that it would be cool to play for his hometown team and that it's an open book, when discussing his options on July 1st.

"How cool would that be for a hometown kid, it's great to see all the BC boys in the NHL. It's an open book for me on July 1st." Dillon said.

Dillon, 33, appeared in 77 games for the Winnipeg Jets this season where he put up 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists), 92 penalty minutes and was a plus-20. He went on to add three assists in three games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

It'll be interesting to see if the Canucks and Brenden Dillon's camp hold contract talks at some point once the market opens, but if he's willing to sign and play for the team, then it should be something for Patrik Allvin to consider. Dillon could be a solid third pairing option if they lose Ian Cole and/or Tyler Myers.
