A former Vancouver Canuck is leaving North America for the 2024-25 season.

After spending the last six seasons playing professionally in North America, former Vancouver Canucks blueliner Brady Keeper has decided to head overseas for the first time in his career.

In a post on their official website on Friday, HK Poprad, a team in the Slovak Extraliga, announced that they've agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Brady Keeper for the 2024-25 campaign.

Note: the following quote is translated from Slovak.

"I'm very happy that Brady and I have agreed on a one-year contract. He is a two-way defender who also has a lot to offer offensively. At the same time, he knows how to harden and is not afraid of physical contact. We also had a positive reference for him from Filip Meár, who spent time with him in Laval. I believe that he will be one of the pillars of our team," HK Poprad sports director Július Koval said.

Keeper, 28, signed a two-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks in the summer of 2021. A few months after signing with Vancouver, Keeper sustained a broken leg in training camp and missed the entire 2021-22 season. He then spent the entire 2022-23 season with the Abbotsford Canucks, putting up six points in 35 games, before signing with the Montreal Canadiens as an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2023.

The Cross Lake, Manitoba native never suited up for Montreal this past season and spent the year in the AHL with the Laval Rocket, registering four points (one goal, three assists), 53 penalty minutes and was a plus-one in 22 games.
