In a post on social media on Tuesday, the Ottawa Senators announced that former Vancouver Canucks assistant coaches Mike Yeo and Nolan Bumgartner have joined the staff of another former Canucks coach, Travis Green.
The Senators also announced that Green is retaining Ottawa franchise legend Daniel Alfredsson and Ben Sexton to his coaching staff next season.
Yeo, 50, joined the Vancouver Canucks in 2022 under Bruce Boudreau and remained with the organization for Rick Tocchet's first full season with the team, helping them reach the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Scarborough, Ontario native has parts of nine seasons of NHL head coaching experience with the Minnesota Wild, St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers.
Bumgartner, 48, appeared in 99 games in the National Hockey League for the Vancouver Canucks and played several seasons for their AHL affiliate at the time, the Manitoba Moose. After his playing career came to an end, Bumgartner turned to coaching, getting his start with the Chicago Wolves, who the Canucks were affiliate with at the time before moving to Utica. From the 2017-18 season to December 2021, Bumgartner was an assistant coach in the NHL for Vancouver.
