Former National Hockey League executive and TSN analyst Pierre McGuire shared recently what he would do with Elias Pettersson, who's in the midst of a tough season.

Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson has had a pretty tough season so far, especially since the J.T. Miller trade as he has just three assists and eight shots on goal in ten games.

Pierre McGuire shares what he'd do with Vancouver Canucks' Elias Pettersson

Pierre McGuire was a guest on Donnie & Dhali on Monday afternoon and he was asked about Elias Pettersson situation in Vancouver and his play to this point in the season.
McGuire shared that he was "ticked off" watching Elias Pettersson play on Saturday night against the Seattle Kraken and that if he was working for the Vancouver Canucks, he's have the Swedish forward in his office watching a lot of video.
"Well I'll tell you one thing, last night I was really ticked off and I don't get mad at players very often, I get frustrated but I was mad last night. I watched him lose that face-off clean to Matty Beniers and that's his job, he's got to take Matty Beniers and then Beniers gets a tip-in obviously from the point shot and Rick I've got to tell you, I'm watching that and I'm going 'that kid is lucky I'm not coaching him' because he'd be in my room, his body language was brutal, his effort level on the face-off was brutal. I was really upset watching that. Like, woah, you've got to compete a little bit there, you've got to get in the dirt and roll around a little bit and he didn't do that." McGuire said.

He added, "So, if I was still working, he'd be in my office, he wouldn't be having a lot of fun with the video machine I can tell you that."
The Vancouver Canucks are entering an interesting period in the 2024-25 season with the trade deadline on Friday and names like Brock Boeser, Carson Soucy, Derek Forbort and Pius Suter all possibilities to be moved by Patrik Allvin this week.
If Patrik Allvin does move someone like Brock Boeser for example, which is a legitimate possibility, then Rick Tocchet and the coaching staff are going to need Elias Pettersson to step it up offensively to replace the production that Boeser brought, especially if the Vancouver Canucks have any aspirations of being a playoff team.
It could be a busy week for the Vancouver Canucks on the trade market, but they've got some work to do on the ice as well as Elias Pettersson and Co. will look to turn things around tomorrow night as they host the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Arena, with puck drop set for just after 7:30 pm PT.
