The Vancouver Canucks are now winless, going 0-0-2 and disappointing fans for a strong start to the season, but nothing compares to the disappointment Vancouver is feeling surrounding Elias Pettersson. Now, the concerns surrounding Ep40's commitment is coming into question.

Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet took to the media after yesterdays practice to talk bout the plan and moist notably the concerns that are surrounding Elias Pettersson's game. First, to be fair to Pettersson, we are only 2 games into the season, even though a let down in many of the eyes of fans, it does take time to build chemistry and get in the swing of the season.

one secondary assist and just two shots despite logging 23:34 in the season opener and then 19:24

Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet speaks on what he wants to see out of Elias Pettersson

Tocchet wants more out of his team and especially out of Pettersson when it comes to his commitment and compete level in practice. He talks about how practices and the effort that is shown in training spills over and translates to regular season games. He wants to make sure the confidence that builds comes from doing the right things in practice.

Pettersson was the last one to leave the ice yesterday (October 12th) to work on his battling drills.

«He came out early with us, 20 minutes before with the twins (Henrik and Daniel Sedin) and (skills coach) Jason Krog and needs to work on certain parts of his game,» said Tocchet. «One of his better practices and there is reason for it. He's going to need that approach for awhile and get his confidence.

«We have a plan to chip away at his game.»

In conclusion, it seems that Rick Tocchet is keeping close tabs on Pettersson and wants him to play up to the caliber he knows he is capable of.
