Head Coach Rick Tocchet's Pathetic Excuse to Vancouver Canucks' Major Collapse to Seattle Kraken
As the Vancouver Canucks finally returned to the ice for the first time since the holiday break, this devastating loss to the Seattle Kraken has fans wondering if the team has not taken advantage of the much needed rest.
The Vancouver Canucks returned to action today against the Seattle Kraken for a matinee matchup.
With a team like the Kraken, normally it would be not the hardest of tests, that was before head coach Rick Tocchet announced in the pre-game that superstars Elias Pettersson and captain Quinn Hughes would not be playing.
What was looking like an easy win with 5 minutes to play, quickly turned south as the Kraken came back scoring 3 unanswered goals, tying it 4-4 and sending it to overtime.
For 55 minutes they controlled play, took a 4-1 lead, and looked like they were going to easily take two points against the Kraken. Then everything changed.
The worse outcome imaginable ended up coming to fruition as a costly turnover in OT by Tyler Myers led to the game winning goal, making the Canucks suffering one the worst collapses in franchise history.
Vancouver Canucks React to Collapsing against the Seattle Kraken
Jake DeBrusk was one of the first to speak after the game, being quite blunt in his assessment to collapsing to the Kraken.
«Honestly it's pretty devastating. We should never be losing that game, let alone letting it get to overtime,» said Jake DeBrusk.
«We have to stick together in here as a team. We're all going through it togetheranytime that we have a two goal lead late, that's got to be automatic and that's what we're pushing for.»
The most unfortunate comments came from head coach Rick Tocchet, who gave his same ol' blank answers, but it was one of his answers stuck out than the rest.
«That's just the way the world is. We have to pick some guys up, I'm sure a couple of individuals don't feel good about themselves but we've got to make sure they've got energy for tomorrow and be ready for the next game.»
Rick Tocchet gave a sad excuse that fans are pretty annoyed about,, saying he does not know what happened, that one minute they were in control, and the next they were tied, that maybe it could be to have the 3 days off.
We were in good control. I don't know if it's the three days off, but we were good until those 5 minutes
Everyone knows that those 3 days off did not play an ounce of reason for the collapse.
