"I think I could have had 50" - Brock Boeser sets his sights on first 50 goal season
Going into a contract year, Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser sets his sights on scoring his first 50 goal season, as he claims he could have done it last year if it were not from some external factors.
During the 2023-2024 season, Brock Boeser had his first official coming out party with the Vancouver Canucks, as he set career highs in points and goals. He officially surpassed the 30 goal marker, but decided that was not enough and ended the year with 40 goals and 33 assists for 73 points. His point total was 17 points more than his previous best season that came back in the 2018-2019 season.
Brock Boeser sets his sights on 50 goals this season
After some health concerns with blood clotting that left many wondering if that would affect his play this season, it seems that he has already answered the question. Instead of regressing, he is off to a hot start scoring 3 goals and 5 points in the first 5 games of the season.
It seems that Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has no doubt that Boeser can break the 50 goal barrier this season.
«For now, his main focus is to come back here and play to the level that he showed last year, and even be more consistent,» said Patrik Allvin when The Athletic's Thomas Drance asked him about Boeser being in a contract year. «I told him he could've scored 50 goals, but I felt he took his foot off the gas when he scored 30.»
Boeser, humbly agreed with his manager.
«I think I could have had 50, too,» said Boeser. «I had four disallowed and I got cold there for a little bit. That's the thing, it's hard to be consistent in this league. That's why there's not many 50-goal scorers or 100-point guys. It gets hard to stay consistent all year. That's one thing I think I'm focused on this year: making sure I'm bringing it every single night.»
For how things are going, you can expect we will be keeping a close eye on the stat sheet every night.
