The NHL's 'Frozen Frenzy' night is drawing criticism from fans around the league.

After a successful attempt early on in the 2023-24 season, the National Hockey League has decided to bring back its Frozen Frenzy night on Tuesday. If you aren't familiar with Frozen Frenzy, it's pretty simple.

All 32 teams in the National Hockey League are in action today with the first game beginning at 6 pm ET between Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals versus Matvei Michkov and the Philadelphia Flyers. Meanwhile, the last game of night, which starts at 11 pm ET, sees the Vegas Golden Knights host the Los Angeles Kings.

Between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm, 13 of these games will begin with puck drop every 15 minutes, allowing fans to tune in for a bit of each contest. For the Vancouver Canucks, their game falls between this three hour window as they take on the Chicago Blackhawks at 8:15 pm ET (5:15 pm PT).

There's no doubting that this is a great idea from the National Hockey League, but there is one pretty significant flaw, that being the day of the week it's behind held on - a Tuesday. Also only having one game the night before didn't sit too well with fans, however it's understandable that the league likely didn't want to have a bunch of teams playing on the second-half of a back-to-back with this marquee night on the calendar.

Some fans took to social media in recent days to express their frustration with the National Hockey League's decision to, for a second year in a row, have the Frozen Frenzy on a Tuesday night.

There's an easy solution to all of this that the National Hockey League should implement starting next season, if they wish to hold the Frozen Frenzy again. It should be on a Saturday. They could begin games at 12 pm ET and stagger them throughout the day, with the final puck drop coming at either 10 or 10:30 pm ET. This would allow fans to watch more games and not just snippets of one and another because of the majority of them starting every 15 minutes.

The NHL could even do it right after the holiday break in December, when a lot of people are at home with their families, it would bring in big television ratings.

Hopefully the National Hockey League listens to the fans and starting next year, Frozen Frenzy will be scheduled a bit better.
