Insider Discloses the Vancouver Canucks Are Reportedly Taking Trade Calls For Defenseman Vincent Desharnais
The Vancouver Canucks continue to evaluate their options on the trade market and it's still unclear if a move will be made soon to bring in some top-four help on the blue line.
A report on Tuesday from TSN's Darren Dreger revealed that Patrik Allvin was working the phone lines in an attempt to make a deal.
While it's obvious what the Vancouver Canucks' need is at this point, but could they move someone from their defensive group before the National Hockey League's trade deadline in early March? It appears so.
On Thursday's edition of Donnie & Dhali, Rick Dhaliwal shared that a couple of sources have told him that Vancouver Canucks defenseman Vincent Desharnais is a name that's out there on the trade market.
"A couple of people have told me that Desharnais' name is out there. Some think his name is out there in the trade market." Dhaliwal said.
He added, "Look Don, they signed him in the summer. Great size, great potential, but he's having a hell of a time being a regular defenseman. And what has this regime told us in the past Don? And you've brought this up many times. When something doesn't work out for these guys, whether it's a trade or July 1st, they rectify it."
Dhaliwal went on to look at players that didn't last very long with the Vancouver Canucks including Curtis Lazar and Daniel Sprong, the latter of whom was traded to the Seattle Kraken back in November.
Desharnais, 28, signed with the Vancouver Canucks as an unrestricted free agent back in July and in 17 games this season, the Laval native has two assists, 15 penalty minutes and is a minus-four.
If the Vancouver Canucks were to trade Vincent Desharnais, it wouldn't be much of a surprise as they have the depth to fill the role he occupies on the blue line.
