MAJOR | Bombshell regarding Elias Pettersson: An announcement finalized in the coming days?
There's been lots of noise around Elias Pettersson and his future with the Canucks in the latest days. It's come to a point where it's been a genuine distraction to the team, the media and the fans.
While it seemed as if Pettersson's future in Vancouver was in jeopardy, Frank Seravalli dropped a bombshell just moments ago when he announced that the Canucks had made significant process on an Elias Pettersson.
It was believed that the superstar might have been leaning towards a shorter-term deal, and per the insider's sources, he'd be signing for nothing less than the maximum eight years term.
Sources say #Canucks have made significant progress with superstar Elias Pettersson working on what is believed to be an 8-year contract extension.
Not done, but significant development and a new deal could be finalized in the coming days.
A leaked rumour suggested that the Canucks had laid an offer worth $96M to the Swede; whether it was true or not, Pettersson will be inking a massive deal regardless. On the verge of putting back-to-back 100 points seasons before turning 25, Pettersson is a one-of-a-kind player.
Per Seravalli, an announcement could be coming early. It seems that it became enough of a distraction to Elias Pettersson that he'd finally want to get it over with.
