Major Development Leaks the Vancouver Canucks' Next Head Coach, and It's Not Rick Tocchet

Aver the past couple of weeks, one if the biggest overarching narratives that has taken over the Vancouver Canucks is the speculation that head coach Rick Tocchet is going to be leaving once the season concludes, especially with him refusing to negotiate within the season.

Now, there could be some contention between him and general manager Patrik Allvin as the GM has come out to say they want Tocchet behind the bench by any means necessary, even if that means exercising their club option for next season even if Tocchet doesn't want to re-sign.

As speculation grows, one thing is for sure, the Canucks know exactly who their next head coach will be once Rick Tocchet moves on.

It may be all doom and gloom for the Vancouver Canucks, but it is the complete opposite for their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford.

Being led by former Canucks Manny Malhotra in his first season as their head coach, the Abbotsford's Canucks set a new franchise record, winning 10 straight games while making push for the postseason.

Head coach Malhotra is making his case to management that he has what it takes to lead an NHL team for the first time after impressing this season.

He adds to his already impressive resume of being the Canucks' assistant coach and partaking in a four-year stint as an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Regardless of when or if Tocchet leaves, there is no doubt in anyone's mind that Malhotra is going to get a shot in the NHL for the Canucks after what he has accomplished this season, and rightfully so.
