MAJOR | Elias Pettersson on the move? Two teams confirmed to have called the Canucks
It should come as no surprise that the Vancouver Canucks and their star forward Elias Pettersson have not quite seen eye-to-eye in terms of contract talks. The Swede is a restricted free agent at season's end and has yet to sign a long-term extension despite the team's success this season.
With 75 points, Pettersson is 10th in NHL scoring and second on the team behind only J.T. Miller (5th in the NHL with 81).
As contract talks continue to stall, Pierre LeBrun has reported that two teams have indeed called the Canucks regarding the availability of the 25-year-old center. However, fans may rest assured, as LeBrun did not specify which two teams had called while making it abundantly clear that Pettersson won't be part of any blockbuster trade at this season's trade deadline.
Previous reports suggest the contract offers from the Canucks to Pettersson's party have exceeded 12 million dollars in annual value. He is set to become a restricted free agent (RFA) on July 1st of this year.
