A new trade proposal would see the Vancouver Canucks & General Manager Patrik Allvin bring back a familiar face in a deal with the New York Islanders.

Despite a busy summer off the ice, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin was unable to find a second line centerman on both the free agent and trade markets, and it doesn't appear that they even came lose to adding one to their group.
"I wish I had some sexy names to throw at you. I don't. Nothing that was overly impactful or anything that felt like it was getting close. I'm sure like every team, you do your due diligence, that's part of your job, you go out there, you poke around, you start to...like around that time of year you hear names that team's are necessarily shopping, but teams are poking around on and they kind of let that name kind of get out there a little bit and it leads to nothing, because there's nothing there." David Pagnotta said earlier this month.

He added, "I think the Canucks certainly tried to, you know, comb the market and see what was out there in terms of the center position. I just don't think they got close on anything."

For now, the Vancouver Canucks will turn to Filip Chytil to cover the second line center role and if things don't go as planned, either due to performance or injury issues, Patrik Allvin could circle back to the trade market to see what's available, perhaps even a reunion with a very familiar face.

Trade proposal sees Vancouver Canucks bring back familiar face from New York Islanders

In a recent article for Heavy.com, Dave Benson suggests that the Vancouver Canucks could link up with the New York Islanders for a deal to bring Bo Horvat back to British Columbia.
Benson's trade proposal would see the Vancouver Canucks acquire Bo Horvat to help solve their need for a second line centerman, while the New York Islanders would receive Aatu Raty - who they drafted in 2021 - along with defenseman Victor Mancini and goaltender Aku Koskenvuo.
"A lot has changed in the short time since, with Miller now skating for the Rangers, and the salary cap now scheduled to increase, putting the Canucks in a good spot to take on Horvat's $8.5 million cap hit through 2029-30. The Islanders, meanwhile, are transitioning to a younger team and would likely grab the chance to shed some salary." Benson said.

He added, "So a conceptual trade might look like:

- To Vancouver: Bo Horvat
- To New York: Aatu Räty, Victor Mancini, Aku Koskenvuo."

Horvat is, and always will be, a fan favourite in Vancouver and if the Canucks were able to bring him back, not only would it be well received, it would also go a long way in helping their chances of reaching the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
