NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman Gives Stirring Update on J.T. Miller's Future With the Vancouver Canucks
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shared an update on Monday morning regarding J.T. Miller's future in Vancouver with the Canucks.
After a weekend filled with rumors, which included a trade with the New York Rangers that fell through, J.T. Miller remains with the Vancouver Canucks, for now.
J.T. Miller has been the focal point of trade rumors in Vancouver throughout the month of January following following a report earlier this month suggesting that the Canucks were exploring the market for both him and Elias Pettersson, the latter of whom has expressed his desire to remain with the club.
With less than 48 hours after that rumored trade with the New York Rangers being declined, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman has provided an update on J.T. Miller's future with the Vancouver Canucks.

Elliotte Friedman was a guest on Halford & Brough on Sportsnet 650 radio on Monday morning where he spoke about the rumors from the weekend, as well as J.T. Miller's future in Vancouver.
"My guess is and you saw Thursday's game. Everybody was frustrated. I just wonder if after that game it reached a point where the Canucks said 'we've got to do this now'." Friedman said when asked why things intensified over the weekend regarding Miller.
He went on to add, "What's true today might not be true tomorrow. All I can tell you at this point in time was sometime Friday or Saturday, I think the Canucks and the player thought he was going to the Rangers. It didn't happen. That is why some people are like, we don't like to tell you anything until it is done because things can happen. In this particular case, something happened. Yesterday I woke up, I checked, everybody was telling me nothing imminent. Last night, before recorded the pod, I checked, people were telling me there's nothing imminent. I haven't heard anything today. But you know, this blows hot and cold."
Given how advanced trade talks got over the weekend, it wouldn't shock anyone to see J.T. Miller moved at this point, maybe even at some point this week.
The New York Rangers won't be the only team in the mix either as teams around the league, contenders mainly, are looking to add a scoring punch to their top-six in hopes of a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this spring.
