Vancouver's roster is full of high-end talent and it definitely showed last season as they reached the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs after many wrote them off before the season even began.
Being an elite player comes with a lot of pressure, but plenty of reward and opportunity as well, including the possibility of representing your nation at major international events such as the IIHF World Championship and Winter Olympics.
NHL players are set to return to the international stage in just over three months time at the 4 Nations Face-Off which will see Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States battle in a round-robin tournament, followed by a Final on February 20th for international glory.
The writers at NHL.com continued their roster projections for the tournament and on Sunday, they took a look at the United States, which could feature a number of Vancouver Canucks. Last week, they shared their roster projection for Finland, which saw Vancouver Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen among the three goaltenders.
Canucks captain Quinn Hughes was already named to the United States' roster back in late-June when each of the four nations announced their first six players. But who else from the Vancouver Canucks could we see in Montreal and Boston in February?
NHL.com put Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller on their projected roster for the tournament after he had a career-year in 2023-24 and so far this season, is off to a hot start. However his role with Team USA could be pretty limited, potentially playing on the fourth line as Dan Rosen mentions.
Like J.T. Miller, Brock Boeser is coming off a career-year in 2023-24 where he put up 40 goals and 73 points. Boeser has been left off of the NHL.com roster projection for the time being, but he's had a strong start to the 2024-25 campaign and should absolutely be in the mix for a spot.
All four nations don't have to submit their final rosters until December 2nd, so it gives someone like Boeser more time to prove himself to USA Hockey and their management group.
Team USA will play their first game of the 4 Nations Face-Off on February 13th against Finland at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET in Montreal, Quebec.
