Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes is undoubtedly the team's MVP this season and when all is said and done, he deserves to be a finalist for the Hart Trophy.
The blueliner leads the Vancouver Canucks in points with 32 (seven goals, 25 assists) and is only four back of Colorado's
Cale Makar for first among defensemen in the entire National Hockey League.
Quinn Hughes has single-handedly kept the Vancouver Canucks in several games this season, with the 25-year-old playing a big role in a number of their 14 wins during the 2024-25 campaign.
While the Vancouver Canucks may have lost last night's game in overtime to the St. Louis Blues, Quinn Hughes played an important role and if it wasn't for him, the team may not have even got one point.
Quinn Hughes' importance to the Vancouver Canucks on full display last night
During last night's game, Quinn Hughes played a whopping 29:50 and when he was on the ice, the Vancouver Canucks had plenty of success against the Blues.
According to Dimitri Filipovic of The Hockey PDOcast, Quinn Hughes was on the ice for all three of Vancouver's goals last night, along with 49 shot attempts, 21 shots on goal and six high-danger chances.
Meanwhile, with Quinn Hughes on the bench, the Vancouver Canucks struggled to get anything going offensively - 0 goals, 9 shot attempts, 4 shots on goal and 2 high-danger chances.
It just goes to show how important Quinn Hughes is to the Vancouver Canucks and without him, there's certainly a chance that they may not even be in the playoff spot.
With the success Quinn Hughes has had this season, the Orlando native absolutely
deserves to be in the conversation and even one of the three finalists for the Hart Trophy, which is given out annually to the player who is the most valuable to his club, as voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association.
There's still plenty of hockey to play this season and over half-way to go in the 2024-25 campaign, but as things stand, Quinn Hughes should be a finalist for the Hart Trophy next spring.
