In what was one of the most anticipated returns in recent memory for Vancouver Canucks fans, Thatcher Demko finally took the ice with his teammates after going down with a knee injury during the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Canucks were rocking their famous all-black "Flying Skate Jersey" in Demko's first game back, and his choice of equipment design has been a ,atter of contention
in the past.
Demko came out in a full black goalie pad set-up, which in the past, he has been banned from doing. Ever since the "Skate Jersey" made its return, Demko always wanted to pay homage to to former goalie Kirk McLean, but the idea was refused down by goalie coach Ian Clark.
There have always been rumblings that Demko and Clark never saw eye to eye, especially when it came down to the way the injury to Demko was handled.
Before the season commenced, Clark was reassigned to a different role within the organization, moving away from goalie coach to Canucks' player development.
Now, with out having the sway he once did, Demko rocked his all-black setup he always wanted, clearlyw sending a message to Ian Clark who always wanted to control him.
