The Canucks gigantic extension offer for Elias Lindholm has been leaked
A number of Canucks players will be looking to cash in with big contracts this summer after the team turned in an impressive 2023-24 season capped off with a playoff victory.
Elias Lindholm will be one of those players, effectively changing the narrative with an impressive playoff performance. On the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman says he believes the Canucks are willing to fork over a hefty contract to their prize in-season addition, but it might not be big enough.
I think the Canucks are willing to go in the 7x7 range; I'm just not sure it's going to get it done... I think the Canucks want this player.
Friedman said there has been a "full-court press" from fellow Canucks players trying to keep Lindholm around, realizing what a good fit he's been. He also added that Lindholm is believed to have liked being in Vancouver.
However, the question of whether the team should invest so much in their center depth has been raised. Still, Friedman says they're quality players who have also proven they're flexible, able to shift up and down the lineup and in other positions.
The Canucks have a huge to-do list this summer, but Elias Lindholm might be at the top of it.
