The Verdict is in for Brock Boeser's Next Contract with the Vancouver Canucks
At the end of this season, The Vancouver Canucks top goal scorer Brock Boeser is due to to sign a brand new deal that will see him get a significant upgrade, and NHL Insider John Shannon has an idea of what the number will be.
The 2 x All-Star and 1-time 40 goal scorer, Brock Boeser has entered the final season of his 3-year contract worth $19,950,000. The deal carries an AAV (average annual value) average of $6.65 million. After scoring a 40 goals in 2023-2024, and on pace to duplicate that this season, the number for his next deal is expected to be way above his current salary.
Originally, it was said from numerous sources, including Elliotte Friedman, that when the Florida Panthers locked up 40-goal scorer Carter Verhaeghe to an 8-year contract extension worth $7M AAV back in September, that Brock Boeser would be earn somewhere in that same ball park. Now, it said that he will earn more than that.
Brock Boeser's Next Contract With the Vancouver Canucks
On the most recent episode of the Vancouver Canucks podcast called "Donnie & Dhali", the pair discussed with John Shannon what is holding up negotiations, and what they believe the terms will be. As stated, it originally was viewed to be comparable to Verhaeghe's contract, but now, they are hearing it is closer to Philadelphia Flyers star, Travis Konecny's.
Travis Konecny signed an 8-year, $70 million contract extension back in late July, which carries a cap hit of $8,750,000 per season (AAV). Now, Brock's deal is looking a tad lower, but it is reported that for sure Boeser's number will start with an 8.
Pagnotta reported that the talks between Boeser and the Vancouver Canucks are very loose and sparring, he expects that the negotiations and talks will become more serious as the NHL season progresses. But it seems, there is no rush for a deal to get finalized at this time.
