Former Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat will be on all the highlight reels for the next little while after his shoutout goal on Tuesday night.

It's been a tough season so far for the New York Islanders. Before Tuesday's game, the team had a record of 4-6-2 and due to injuries, are without several key players including Mat Barzal, Adam Pelech and Alexander Romanov.

As the team begins to navigate the next six-to-eight weeks without Barzal and Pelech, they had a date with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, another team who has struggled out of the gate.

Former Canuck Bo Horvat scores incredible shootout goal

Last night's game between the Islanders and Penguins headed to a shootout tied at 3-3 and Patrick Roy sent out former Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat to shoot second for the team.

Horvat is a pretty solid option for the Islanders as he was 11-for-34 (32.4%) in his career heading into the game. As he skated down on Penguins netminder Alex Nedeljkovic, the 29-year-old got the fans out of their seats and scored what may end up being the best shootout goal of the 2024-25 season.

With Nedeljkovic deep in his crease, Bo Horvat pull the puck to the right and one-handed, slipped it under the left pad of the Penguins netminder. The goal, known as 'The Forsberg', was named after Peter Forsberg, who scored a similar goal during the gold medal game of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.

It's great to see Bo Horvat enjoying some success in his second full season as a member of the New York Islanders. Horvat's time with the Vancouver Canucks came to an end in January 2023 after he was traded to the New York Islanders for Aatu Raty, Anthony Beauvillier and a 2023 first-round pick, the latter of which was later flipped to Detroit for Filip Hronek.

The Vancouver Canucks are finally seeing some positives in that trade with Aatu Raty playing very well in the American Hockey League and earning a call up to the NHL yesterday.

Do you think the Vancouver Canucks should've re-signed Bo Horvat rather than trading him?
