Trade Rumor - Toronto Maple Leafs Trade Proposal For Vancouver Canucks 40-Goal Scorer Could Turn Heads

In what needs to be emphasized as only a trade rumor, a Toronto Maple Leafs trade proposal for Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser has come to the surface to describe what they would probably have to give up if they wanted to land the former 40-goal scorer.
It was reported by NHL insider Frank Seravalli that amid the contract stalemate between the Vancouver Canucks and Brock Boester, the team finally caved and offered him a pretty sizeable contract, in the realm of five-years worth $40 million ($8 million AAV).
Mock trade proposal if the Toronto Maple Leafs want to acquire Brock Boeser.
As a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference but not being able to find success in the playoffs, General Manager Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs are always looking for more players to add to supplement their offense.
Now, since Boeser is most likely on the trade block due to not being able to find a deal that works for both him and the Canucks, it begs to the question of what he is worth.
Looking at his past statistics and what his potential can bring, the Leafs would have to propose at least a defensive prospect like
Topi Niemela and a young center like
Fraser Minten along with a 1st-round or second-round pick.
If Boeser is not going to resign, they need to get something in return for him now to not get left with a bag in their hand, and if the Canucks retain some of his salary, the Leafs can offer up these assets to get a proven 40-goal scorer in the NHL.
The deal may be only a rumor, but it really does address the key needs for both the Canucks and Leafs.
Toronto is in a win-now mindset, and with their current core of stars, secondary scoring from a guy that has previously scored 40 goals can take a lot of pressure of the big names up front.
This rings true even more when the Maple Leafs enter the playoffs, where
Auston Matthews and
Mitch Marner can't be expected to carry the load every shift.
For Vancouver, who are at-best a team teetering on being in the post-season, they are in need of serious asset management if they can't get the 28-year-old to sign.
They are most likely going to be sellers at the NHL trade deadline anyway so by rebuilding their core with solid future prospects and draft picks makes the most sense.
